Robotics company Figure announced that it has agreed with BMW to test its humanoid robot Figure 101 at the company’s factory in America. This will be the first real test of the robot in performing routine tasks such as carrying and classifying boxes, and unloading and loading cargo.

The robot is not currently expected to perform advanced tasks, but this experience is considered a training course for the robot in a real working environment outside the company’s laboratory. This field experience will be useful in developing the robot and its suitability for the jobs needed by automobile factories.

Figure Company was founded in 2022 at a time when the field of human robotics is witnessing great competition between Tesla, Kepler, Boston Dynamics, Unitree, and other companies that are constantly updating their robots.

It is noteworthy that the Valkyrie humanoid robot developed by NASA was sent to an unmanned marine power plant in order to benefit from its work in complex conditions to further qualify it to work in new environments such as space.

What about a Tesla robot?

When we talk about cars and robots, we must mention the Tesla robot Optimus . BMW seeks to keep pace with Elon Musk by benefiting from the expertise of companies working in this field in order to remain at the forefront of those who benefit from the latest technology developments in factories.

In any case, these robots are still far from being of great economic benefit to companies, but the future is promising.
