Sichuan Tengden Sci-tech Innovation has successfully conducted the maiden flight of China’s largest unmanned cargo drone. The twin-engine aircraft completed a 20-minute flight covering 100 kilometers.
Designed to streamline and expedite aerial cargo transportation, the drone offers cost-effective operations without significantly increasing prices compared to terrestrial shipping.
With a wingspan of 16.1 meters and a height of 4.6 meters, the drone boasts a 12 cubic meter cargo area and a commercial payload capacity of 2 tons.
Just two months ago, AVIC tested its then-largest unmanned cargo drone, the HH-100, capable of carrying 700 kilograms and flying 520 kilometers.
China is increasingly relying on drones across various sectors, driven by the need for cost-effective solutions to achieve its economic goals.
Ehang, another Chinese company, was the first globally to obtain commercial flight approval for its two-seater EVTOL drone. This innovative aircraft has been tested in numerous countries for expedited passenger transport in specific regions and for tourism purposes.
Furthermore, China recently launched its first nine-passenger airship, complete with a pilot, as part of its efforts to expand its range of aerial vehicles to meet various needs and applications.
