At the Yimin mine in Inner Mongolia, China has unveiled its first and largest fleet of fully autonomous electric mining trucks. Consisting of 100 self-driving trucks, this ambitious project represents a groundbreaking global achievement in smart transportation and clean energy.

This innovation is the result of collaboration between leading companies, including Huaneng Group, Huawei, and State Grid Smart Internet of Vehicles, who have developed an advanced transport system that combines autonomy, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Each truck, from the Huaneng Ruichi series, is capable of transporting 90 tons of material, operating continuously even under extreme conditions with temperatures as low as -40°C. This cutting-edge technology has increased operational efficiency by 120% compared to traditional manual trucks, thanks to intelligent software and Huawei’s cloud-based monitoring systems, which optimize operations and improve route planning.

Equipped with self-driving technology, these trucks significantly reduce risks and enhance worker and equipment safety, while boosting productivity in harsh mining environments.

To ensure optimal performance, 5G-A networks have been deployed in the mining area, providing precise coverage and continuous connectivity with Huawei’s cloud service for real-time operation control, efficiency, and safety enhancements.

This project reflects China's commitment to digitizing traditional industries and adopting modern technologies that promote sustainability and safety, positioning the country at the forefront of innovation in smart mining.
